Tequila and Dry

A variant of a Scotch and Soda however this uses Tequila and Vermouth. This cocktail has a warm summery glow about it and if you use a spicer ginger ale it adds a bit of a kick. For a more drier drink try using Blanco Tequila and a dry Vermouth instead.

Tequila and Dry
---------------------------------
makes 1 cocktail

45ml of Tequila
10ml rosso Vermouth
2 dashes orange bitters

Build over cubed ice in a highball. Crown... or top with chilled ginger ale, add more ice, then garnish with an orange wedge and a mint sprig.

Bald Head Martini

There was some curiosity about when we decided to try this martini however I do not know why this cocktail is called the Bald Head. Similar to a classic martini that is crisp, it has an invigorating sip.

Bald Head Martini
---------------------------------------------
makes 2 martini

1 oz French Vermouth
1 oz Italian Vermouth
4 oz Gin
1 to 2 dashes of Absinthe

Place all ingredients into a cocktail pitcher with ice cubes. Strain into martini glass. Twist lemon peel over the drink, if you wish or decorate with a stuffed olive.

Still dealing with this stubborn cold. Will try and get some rest over the next few days. Have a good weekend everyone! - JD

Journalist Martini

It is unclear as to when and where this cocktail was created however it is one of those classic cocktails which dates back to 1930, when it appeared in the Savoy Cocktail Book. To many it is the perfect martini due to the fact that it has equal parts of dry and sweet vermouth. Just a hint of citrus with a crisp, dry complexity that is unique. The Journalist is also known as the Periodista, which is Spanish for journalist.

1 oz Dry Vermouth
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
1 oz Triple Sec
1 oz lime juice
1 dash bitters

Pour ingredients into a shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with a lemon twist.
