Dry Martini with a Martini Berry


A classic, shaken or stirred, with a martini berry twist! 


Dry Martini
---------------------------------------
makes 1 cocktail

1 1/2 oz Gin
1/3 oz Dry Vermouth
1 martini berry
ice cubes

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add the gin and dry vermouth. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a martini berry.


These intriguing martini berries from Fortnum & Mason are a nice way to change up a cocktail. They taste like an olive however have tiny edible seeds inside that have a mild crunch. So glad we ordered these in our yearly Fortnum & Mason order.

Savoy Hotel Special Cocktail No.1


Another cocktail similar to the classic cocktail, simple, dry and smooth. 

Savoy Hotel Special Cocktail No.1

makes 1 cocktail

2 oz Gin
1 oz Dry Vermouth
2 dashes Grenadine
1 dash Absinthe
1 twist lemon zest

Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes. Add all the ingredients, except the lemon zest, into the mixing glass. Stir and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon, if you wish.

Scofflaw Cocktail


This bright blushing cocktail comes with a bit of a kick. Just a hint of citrus and slightly sweet with a strong finish.

makes 1 cocktail

2 oz Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
1 oz Dry Vermouth
1/4 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz Grenadine 
2 dashes of Orange Bitters

Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Lovely Butterfly


This fluttery cocktail is light and refreshing. A perfect summertime cocktail.

makes 1 cocktail

1 oz Dry Vermouth
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz Dubonnet
1/2 oz Orange Juice
ice

Combine all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with the ice. Shake and strain to a martini glass. Garnish with a twist of orange, if you wish.

Milanese Spritz


I stumbled upon this cocktail via the internet and doing more research came across a few recipes with subtle differences. Some versions add club soda, dry Vermouth or gin to customize. We decided to try the Henry C's version. It's a spritzer beverage so it's light and refreshing. Great for summer.  

Milanese Spritz
---------------------------------------------
makes 1 cocktail

15ml Campari
15 ml Dry Vermouth
15 ml Gin
20 ml fresh lemon juice
20 ml Simple Syrup
Sparkling white wine, to top

Place the Campari, dry Vermouth, Gin, Lemon juice and syrup into a large wine glass. Give a gentle stir to mix together. Fill with ice and top up with the white wine. Put a lemon wedge on top, if you wish.

Vermouth Cassis

This summery cocktail is light, refreshing and bubbly. Next time we make this, it may be worth a try to use lemonade, fizzy or still, rather then the suggested soda water.

3/4 oz Creme de Cassis
1 oz Dry Vermouth
soda water

Pour Creme de Cassis and Vermouth into a tall glass over ice. Stir quickly, add soda water to fill, stir once more.

Bamboo Cocktail


A unique little palette pleaser that is strong with a nice balance of aromatic flavours. 

Bamboo Cocktail

makes 1 cocktail

1 1/2 oz Sherry
1 1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
2 dashes of Orange Bitters

Place all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a cocktail glass. 

Notes: for a longer drink pour ingredients into a taller glass with ice and top with chilled soda water over top. Serve with an orange slice.

Saffron Gin Martini


This crisp cocktail has a subtle saffron flavour, due to the gin. A refreshing change from the standard martini.

5 oz Indian Summer Saffron Infused Gin
2 oz Dry Vermouth
crushed ice

Add crushed ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour the ingredients over the ice. Shake and pour into chilled martini glasses.

Pompano Martini


One might think this cocktail has a fruit flavour however it does not. Slightly citrus with a straight up classic dry martini taste.

5 oz Gin
1 oz Dry Vermouth
2 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit juice
1 oz Bitters

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with an orange twist if you wish.

Imperial Martini


Strong however a little bit bitter. Certainly a slow sipping cocktail.

6 oz Gin
2 oz Dry Vermouth
1 oz Maraschino liqueur
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into chilled martini glasses.. Garnish with a lemon twist, if you wish.

Last Round

Quite like the crisp, clean taste of the classic cocktail, only stirred; the Last Round gives a different twist to the martini.

1 oz dry Gin
1 oz dry Vermouth
2 dashes Brandy
2 dashes Pernod

Place all the ingredients into a cocktail pitcher. Stir with ice and strain into cocktail glass.

Bermuda Highball

A simple bubbly cocktail that is refreshing!  


Bermuda Highball

makes 1 cocktail 

1 oz Dry Gin
1 oz Brandy
1/2 oz Dry Vermouth

Combine all ingredients into a highball glass, with ice cubes, and fill with Ginger Ale or Soda Water. Garnish with a lemon peel. Serve.

Marguerite Cocktail


This crisp cocktail is smooth with just a subtle hint of cherry. Classically good, sip after sip. 

Marguerite Cocktail

makes 1 cocktail

1 1/4 oz Gin
1 1/4 oz Dry Vermouth 
1/4 oz Anisette
3 dashes Orange Bitters
Maraschino Cherry
twist of lemon, optional

Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass halfway full with cracked ice. Add the gin, vermouth, anisette, and orange bitters. Stir well.

Add the cherry to a cocktail glass. Strain the mixture into the glass and over the cherry. 
If using a lemon too then, twist the lemon twist over the glass and drop into glass.

The Devil Martini



Still in the swing of all things Halloween with this strong and fiery cocktail. It will definitely ignite the fires within! 

The Devil Martini

makes 1 cocktail

2 oz Dark Rum
1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
blackberries
black sugar

Stir and strain the rum and vermouth into a chilled martini glass that has been rimmed with sugar. Garnish with blackberries. 

Notes: you may use black olives instead of the blackberries and may replace the black sugar with red or orange.

Smoky Martini

This martini is another crisp, strong cocktail that is definitely neat! We gave this cocktail as a nod to the late American actor, Burt Reynolds.

6 oz Gin
1 oz Dry Vermouth
1/2 oz Scotch

Pour ingredients into a shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glasses. Garnish with a lemon twist, if you wish.

Liar's Martini


This smooth but mellow cocktail will set you straight with it's down to earth subtle orange flavour.

6 oz Gin
2 oz Dry Vermouth
1 oz Triple Sec
1 oz Sweet Vermouth

Pour ingredients into shaker with cracked ice and shake well. strain into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with a twist of lemon, if you wish.

Pompano Martini


Another bittersweet citrus cocktail all thanks to, grapefruit juice.

5 oz gin
1 oz Dry Vermouth
2 oz Grapefruit juice
1 dash of Bitters

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with an orange twist.

The Jupiter


This cocktail supposedly dates back to the 1920's. It is slightly strong however an aromatic cocktail that is a smooth one.

1 1/2 oz gin
3/4 oz dry vermouth
1 teaspoon Parfait Amour
1 teaspoon orange juice

Shake all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, strain into a cocktail or martini glass.

Nightmare

With all it's subtleness this cocktail has a sweet cherry flavour with just a bit of a kick. Compelling yet reflective.

makes 1 cocktail 

1 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1/2 oz cherry brandy
1 oz orange juice

In a shaker filled with a cup of ice, pour the gin, dry vermouth, cherry brandy and orange juice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
