Seoul Fried Chicken

This past weekend we had a chance to try the very sought after Seoul Fried Chicken. There have been many positive things said about this eatery and their menu items that we could not resist.

Pictured is a half order of their Korean Barbeque, SFC BBQ, and a half order of Original, SFC OG. The Original was not greasy or too salty. A nice seasoned crunch gave way to the tender chicken. The Korean BBQ had the perfect amount of tang and spice. For those who like heat this ones for you. Both are very good!

Also, this is their combo 5pc Chicken Set: Any single chicken flavour... I chose, Onion Lover with sweet hot mustard sauce and topped with shredded green onion, a side of kimchi, a corn fritter and a beverage. The corn fritters are sweet, the kimchi hot and spicy and the mustard sauce gave just enough heat to tantalize the taste buds! Seoul Fried Chicken is an absolute delight for which one should try and share.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Plenty of sunshine here! - JD

Espresso Cheese

I found this at a small local bakery. Cheese and espresso? This is a very good pairing in my view. A semi soft cheese with a dusting of espresso on the outside. So delicious! It's Canadian and produced in Quebec.

It has the look of a smoked gouda however has a subtle smoky rich espresso flavour. Great on sandwiches, apples, crackers, and salads.

It is Wednesday and we all know what that means... the week is just about over. - JD

Tajin Classico Seasoning

There is a Latin Food Market here in E-town called Paraiso Tropical. It offers a nice modest selection of groceries, candies, drinks, snacks, hot food, and cookware of Latin America. I bought this Tajin seasoning. It is a blend of chili peppers, sea salt and dehydrated lime juice. Very mild however great for seasoning just about anything. Veggies... possibly fruit, meat, tofu, dips, and popcorn. They do offer a low sodium version however I didn't see any on the shelf. Regardless, I am sure a light hand for those that are watching their sodium intake will do. To me it didn't taste outrageously salty. Just spicy, sweet with a hint of zesty tang.

Tajin does have a website, click *here* and so does Paraiso Tropical, click *here*. Both websites have loads of information for you to check out.

A few days of warm sunshine only to have a snowy wet and very windy Wednesday. - JD

Potato Masher

Most potato mashers that I have owned usually break, are not sturdy or did a poor job even though my arm got a really good workout. With the former potato masher I had, I slightly dreaded the dinners when mash potatoes were requested. Perhaps I relished the arm workout however agonizing over something so simple put me off completely. Therefore I was searching for a good masher that would get the job done and meet a few requirements. When I spotted this one from the Italian Centre here in E-town potato mashing seemingly was going to the next level.

The weight is hefty and the dual mashing plates are handy. The zig zag plate does mega mashing to cut down large cooked potatoes and the other perforated plate for small mashing to reduce the amount of lumps. Just pinch the side purple buttons to switch between plates. Two potato mashers in one! Convenient and the stainless steel cleans up nicely. I luv the purple and black combination. It gives this a bit of a gothic feel as far as kitchen gadgets go.

And it did go to the next level. Here is the potato masher in action. Both plates were used and the mashed potatoes went smoothly. No more dread over mash potatoes and as far as the arm workout... it still exists.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! - JW
